In the Women’s Gold Medal play-off New Caledonia were looking to defend their title from the 2011 Pacific Games but PNG were determined to spoil the party. PNG Team Captain, Eli Webb, played very well winning the first match 3-2, followed by PNG junior Lynette Vai who soundly defeated New Cal’s No.1 Claire Faucompre clinching the Gold Medal for her country.

The Women’s Bronze Medal play-off was a thriller.  Fiji went into the medal play-off the favourites, with Tahiti being the underdogs having only won 2 games throughout the Preliminary matches.  However in the final they definitely lifted their game and played extremely well.  The No. 2’s played first with Tahiti pulling out all stops and taking the 1st rubber 3-0.  Fiji fought back in the 2nd rubber (No.1’s) but Tahiti fought hard losing 3-2. The deciding 3rd rubber was not easy for either side with long rallies.  Fiji fought hard and deserved their 2-1 win but the Tahiti ladies should be congratulated on their fighting spirit.

The Men’s Bronze Medal play-off once again brought in the crowd and there was a lot of enthusiastic fans cheering on their country men.  Although Tahiti played well they were no match for PNG and their cheer squad.

Men’s Gold Medal Play-off drew a huge crowd with the centre packed with New Caledonians and Fijians egging on their teams.  With New Caledonia defending their 2011 titled the players were all fired up and played hard and fast.  Fiji weren’t going down easily and after losing the first match in 3 their youngest player Marika stepped up and although losing won a crucial game, losing 3-1.  Fiji came out on top in the next match, with Fiji’s No.1 player Justin Ho fighting hard to win against Nicolas Massesnet in 5.  Fiji were still in with a chance for the final match but it proved to hard for them going down in 3 to lose the overall tie by 3-1.
