Update on Oceania Junior Championships 2014Oceania 210

The first two days were full of great competition and outstanding matches at Oceania Juniors.

Most of the top seeds progressed well but there were a couple of upsets.

In the men’s Under 19, young NZ rising star Luke Jones caused the biggest upset when beating fellow Kiwi, Scott Galloway (4th seed), in a tough 5 setter to reach a semi-final spot in the U19s. The match lasted little over 40 minutes.  Tiana Saxby’s 4-game win over New Zealand’s Parearau Kutia in the Under 17 girls was another surprise result. Saxby threw caution to the wind from the outset, winning 11-5, 7-11, 11-6, 12-10
