Final Results for the Oceania Junior Championships 2018Oceania 210

The finals have been played and the winners announced for the Oceania Junior Championships 2018.

New Zealand has come home with a significant medal haul from the 2018 Oceania Junior Championships at the PCYC Centre in Brisbane claiming 7 of the 10 titles up for grabs.

In the Under 11 Boys 2017 winner Matthew Growcott continued his dominance he had shown throughout Pool Play to win his last match and to claim the Under 11 Boys title for the second year in a row.

The Under 13 Boys saw fellow Kiwis Tom Marshall 2nd seed and Freddie Jameson 5th seed battling it out in the finals, but Marshall was too strong for Jameson claiming the win in 4.

Sophie Hodges and Ella Lash topped their Pools in the Under 13 Girls to set up an all Kiwi final and it was a tight fought affair from both players. With Hodges looking to close it out in 3, Lash fought back taking the match to 5, with Lash eventually clinching the title.

The Under 15 Boys saw Riley-Jack Vette-Blomquist finish with the highest placing taking 3rd in the division.

The Under 15 Girls title saw fellow Kiwis Natalie Sayes and Jena Gregory battle it out in a match both players had faced many times. It was Sayes day today though as she took the win in 3 from Gregory.

In the Under 17 Boys it was not meant to be for 8th Seed Elijah Thomas as he went down to the 3rd seed Kerwin The of Malaysia in 4.

The Under 17 Girls saw Winona-Jo Joyce continue to upset her Australian counterparts as she defeated the top seed Mackenzie Sleep of Australia in 4 to claim the title.

Lwamba Chileshe showed a strong performance in the Under 19 Boys as he took his win from 4th Seed Eugene Heng of Australia to clinch the Under 19 Boys title.

In the Under 19 Girls Anika Jackson the 2nd Seed took on Alex Haydon the top seed. Both of these players being the youngest in the draw looked set to put their best on court. With some hard fought rallies from both player it was Jackson who was able to clinch the win and bring the title home to New Zealand in 5.
